July 25th - The Full Moon of the Guru

It is hard not to sensationalize the upcoming Full Moon, called Guru Purnima (the Full Moon of the Guru) for anyone who seeks evolution. This one night could bring you your needed evolution revolution. This is a rare time to solve unsolved problems.

To understand why this particular Full Moon night of 2010 has the potential to change your life forever requires brief explanation of the esoteric astrology and energy that occurs on this day.

2010: The Year of the Guru

The word 'Guru' means remover of darkness(Sanskrit, Gu means darkness, Ru means remover). Thus, Guru Purnima is the day of eradicating ignorance and illuminating our lives with knowledge. On this day, Guru can inspire us to overcome our limitations and conjure a life of wonderful possibilities.

As per Siva Nadi Predictions 2010 is the year numerologically ruled by number 3 (2+0+1+0). Three is the number that signifies Jupiter and Guru. Celebrating Guru Purnima in 2010 (The Year of the Guru) proves to be an unparalleled blessing of spiritual and other worldly knowledge like the earth plane has never seen.

Jupiter and the Onset of Divine Knowledge

Astrologically, Guru is the planet Jupiter, the only planet that has the potency to nullify any affliction caused by the other planets. It represents the higher mind, the vision of truth, and the principles of growth, expansion, and optimism. This Guru Purnima Jupiter begins to retrograde for four months from July 23rd to November 19th.

Jupiter will just have become stationary (on July 23rd) and initiates its Retrograde movement in Pisces. Remember, Pisces is the natural sign of Enlightenment and Liberation. With the Moon in Sagittarius, which is both ruled by Jupiter and in quadrant (Kendra) to Pisces, a yoga called Gaja Kesari is formed. This period is pregnant with possibilities for enlightenment and power. Jupiter just completing its stationary (still) position goes quiet for transmitting profound knowledge. It assumes the role of the Primordial Teacher Shiva (in the form of Dakshinamurthy) who is known to instruct the ancient sages in silence.

Guru - The Goddess Incarnate

The Full Moon of the Guru falls during the Aadi month (mid-July to mid-August), which is renowned for the celebration of the sacred forms of the Goddess (Aadi Velli).

Ultimately, it is the Goddess who reveals Herself as the Guru of the holy Siddhas. The hymn Sri Lalita Sahasranama (1000 revered names of the Goddess) mentions Her names as Guru Murti (as Guru Herself), Guru Mandala Rupini (of the form of the Universe of Gurus), and Guru Priya (one who adores Gurus).

Teachers of the Entire Universe

The Saptarishi or the Seven Great Sages (Atri, Bhrigu, Pulastya, Vasishtha, Gautama, Angirasa and Marichi) are venerated masters who completely dedicated themselves to the pursuit of inner bliss and divine light. They are known as 'seers' as they are said to possess perfect knowledge about the past, present and future of humanity.

The Saptarishi are the primeval teachers who continue to guide humanity to the secrets of life and universe. They can help us acquire the finest qualities, such as unconditional love, faith, bliss, and forgiveness. On Guru Purnima the Grace from these masters is easily accessible to all who think on them.

Time for Spiritual Renewal

The Full Moon represents enlightenment, which is the full flowering of consciousness. On the Vedic calendar, Guru Purnima is the Full Moon that falls near the summer solstice, the month of greatest light. This Full Moon is important because it is the time when all divine teachers shower blessings on the earth providing increased energy for our spiritual awakening.
